Information

great location for:

Travel south-west from Rio along the ‘Costa Verde’ or ‘Green Coast’ for beautiful beaches and delightful colonial towns. Founded in the 16th Century, Angra dos Reis is situated on a large bay that is dotted with islands. Wander around the pretty centre, or just relax and lap up the sun amongst the tropical surroundings.

Further down the coast, Paraty still retains many fine colonial buildings. There are churches, hillside forts and grand merchant houses. Small, uninhabited islands with pristine sandy beaches can be reached by boat from the harbour and behind the town there is a lush forest to explore. Off the coast, the island of Ilha Grande is accessible by boat and has a laid back feel and tropical beaches.
