Information

great location for:

An oasis town on an old trading road between Chile and Argentina, San Pedro has a fantastic setting in the heart of the Atacama Desert. One of the driest regions of the world, rainfall is rare; when the heavens do open the desert is transformed as thousands of brightly coloured plants burst into life. The colours and textures of the desert are incredible; the scenery has to be seen to be fully appreciated.

Walk around San Pedro and you will feel a million miles away from the busy streets of Santiago. Low level houses are constructed from adobe and in the evening the lack of natural light combined with incredibly clear skies makes for great star gazing. When it comes to day excursions you are spoilt for choice; take your pick from the world’s highest geysers at El Tatio, 12th century Inca ruins or the bizarre landscapes of the ‘Moon Valley’.
