A beautiful region of rolling countryside, snow-capped volcanoes, crystal clear lakes and dense forests; the Lake District has some of Argentina’s finest scenery. Very much an outdoor destination, the walking is excellent, there is great fishing and in season, the mountains are popular with skiers.

A great region to self-drive, the infrastructure is good, with hotels in the main towns such as Bariloche and also in the surrounding countryside, several of which offer spa facilities. Bordering Chile, it is possible to travel by boat between the two countries; a two-day cruise is the most relaxing way to make the journey.
