great location for:

The Cayo district in Western Belize has a lush tropical feel to it. Rolling countryside borders the ever encroaching jungle, brightly coloured houses line the roads, hummingbirds, parrots and toucans fill the skies. An important region for the ancient Mayan, several of their sites have been uncovered and restored. Located 70 kilometres south of the regional capital San Ignacio, the ancient city of Caracol has a tremendous setting deep in the rainforest. Climb the central temple for fantastic views of the jungle. Close to the border with Guatemala, the ruins at Xuanantunich have been well restored making it one of the country’s best sites.
